Michael W. Chambers, CPA is the Fiscal Officer of Cuyahoga County. He and his office are required by the law to account for the taxes collected, distribute taxes to county bodies, appraise and assess every parcel of real property for tax purposes in Cuyahoga County, and administer applications for tax exemptions.
Property Appraisal
According to Ohio law, the Cuyahoga County Fiscal Officer should reappraise every parcel of real property every six years and make an update at the three-year midpoint. Any person owning taxable real property in Cuyahoga County, the Board of County Commissioners, and the County Prosecutor or Treasurer of the County have the right to file a compliant against the property valuation. If you think your property is over-valued, under-valued, discriminatorily valued, illegally valued, or incorrectly valued, you can contact the Board of Revision at (216) 443-7195 or the County Fiscal Officer at (216) 443-7100. The limited period of filing complaints is from the first half of tax billing in December through March 31.
