The Fairfield County Auditor is the Chief Fiscal Officer in Fairfield County, who is committed to maintaining the records and paying bills as approved by the County Commissioners. In addition, the Auditor also transfers deeds, appraises properties, computes tax rates and bills, gathers estate and personal property taxes, and distributes all tax income for the county.
How to Appraise the Properties?
The Auditor is responsible for fairly and uniformly appraising and assessing all parcels of land and building on them for tax purposes. According to Ohio law, the Auditor should make a general reappraisal every six years, with an update required by the Tax Commissioner at the three-year midpoint based on the sales and growth of the properties in the county. It is the duty of the Fairfield County Auditor’s Office to record the appraisal of all parcels. These records are open to the public and are accessible on the website realestate.co.fairfield.oh.us.
