The Summit County Auditor is the Chief Fiscal Officer, Chief Assessor, Chief Payroll Officer, and Sealer of Weights and Measures in Summit County. As the Chief Fiscal Officer, the Auditor is responsible for making accounting and financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, and budget and settlement. As the Tax Assessor, the Auditor is in charge of appraising all properties for tax purposes within Summit County and administering homestead exemption. Two major factors may change the amount of real estate taxes: the property value decided by the Fiscal Office Real Estate Department, and the tax levies determined by the voters.
About the Property Appraisal
The Ohio law requires the Auditor to conduct a sexennial reappraisal of all properties every six years with a triennial update at the midpoint of the six-year reappraisal cycle. The last sexennial reappraisal in Summit County was performed in 2020 and the triennial update was made in 2023. As the property taxes are paid one year in arrears, the changes in property values will be shown on the taxes collected in 2024. If you do not agree with your new appraisal value, you have the right to discuss it with the Auditor and file a complaint.

There are two search methods - Standard Search and Advanced Search. Using Standard Search, you need to enter the parcel, name, or address in the search field.
Using Advanced Search, you need to click on the Criteria drop-down listing, choose one search criteria, and enter the relevant information.
Click the "Search" button, and you will get a wealth of information about the property, including summary, sketch, sales, land, permits, values, taxes, special assessments, etc.
