Ashtabula County Property Tax
Two things can change the amount of property taxes - the property value and the tax rate. The property taxes are calculated by multiplying the taxable (assessed) value by the tax rate. The properties are assessed at 35% of fair market value for taxation reasons in order to get the taxable value or assessed value of the property. The Ohio Department of Taxation sets the tax rate. A variety of programs such as Homestead, Current Agricultural Use Value, and Forestry are qualified for tax relief.
You should pay your property taxes within the required time. You can pay your property taxes by various methods including check, money order, cashier’s check, credit card/debit card, E-check online, etc. If you do not pay your property taxes, you may have problems in selling your property. You can sign a written agreement with the Delinquency Department that allows you to pay your delinquent taxes in installments if the property is your primary residence and you have not missed any payment before.
If you do not receive your tax bill, please contact 440-576-3727 to make sure your mailing address is correct. If you want to change your mailing address, please mail or fax a brief message to the office with your updated mailing address on it. Alternatively, when you pay your taxes, write the new mailing address on the back of the envelope or the tax bill.
