Ohio Auditor

Butler County Property Tax

The Butler County Auditor calculates the real estate taxes each year by multiplying the tax rate by the property valuation. In order to establish the tax bills, the Auditor determines the fair market value of the property and then uses the fair market value to determine the taxable value. The taxable value is 35% of the fair market value. Special Assessments can be added for some projects such as weed removal and curb repair. The Total Property Tax is the sum of Base Property Tax, Levies, and Special Assessments. Sometimes there may be some reduction credits including Homestead Exemption and Owner-Occupancy Credit. The Total Property Tax minus Reduction Credits is Property Tax Owed.

There are a variety of payment methods - Pay Online or by Telephone, Pay in Person, Pay by Mail, Pay by Drop Box, Monthly Escrow Program, and Autopay (Automatic Withdrawal).
