Columbiana County Property Tax

In Ohio, the real estate tax, also known as real property tax, is the oldest tax starting from 1825. It is levied by the taxing subdivision on a parcel of real estate based on the value. Two factors can influence the amount of taxes. The first one is the market value of the property, which plays the most important role. It is the County Auditor who determines the market value of the real estate. If you do not agree with the appraised value, you can file an appeal with the County Board of Revision, the Ohio Department of Taxation, or through Common Pleas Court. For more details, please contact the Office of the County Auditor. The second factor that influences your taxes is the voters. If the voters approve the payments for additional benefits or services, your taxes will increase to support such payments.

How to Pay the Real Estate Taxes?

There are a variety of payment forms that are accepted - cash, checks, money orders, cashier’s checks, electronic checks, and credit/debit cards. An online payment service provider - Smart Payworks is available on the website. If you choose to pay taxes by Smart Payworks, a convenience fee will be charged. For any questions about the payment, please contact the Columbiana County Treasurer.
